The Arlington, Va.-based National Grocers Association has hired Maggie Lyons as its director of government relations.
In that role, she will manage the group’s legislative and regulatory efforts related to federal policies that affect independent supermarkets.
Lyons also will work with other members of the government relations department to develop a government affairs strategy and outreach program for federal regulators and policymakers.
She brings with her experience in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, most recently as deputy chief of staff for Steve King, R-Iowa, who sits on the House Agriculture Committee.
Before Lyon’s time in the House, she worked for a Washington, D.C.-based think tank and served on the staff of a U.S. senator.
Lyon’s graduated from Elon University, Elon, N.C., with of a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications.
