Grower Direct moves cherry staff to Washington

cherries Grower Direct Marketing is moving its cherry operations north as the California deal winds down.

The week of June 3, several employees in the company’s Stockton, Calif., headquarters moved to the company’s Yakima, Wash., office for the season, according to a company news release.

Grower Direct markets Washington fruit packed at Yakima-based Western Sweet Cherry Group.

“The growers at Western Sweet have been working hard all year to ensure we have a crop that is ready for our customers as early as possible,” Mark Cotton, Grower Direct’s sales manager, said in the release.

Grower Direct expects to ship Washington cherries into early August, Zach Williams, the company’s export manager, said in the release.

Grower Direct and Western Sweet have partnered in the Washington cherry deal for almost a decade.
