Growers Citrus joins Sunkist

Sunkist GrowersGrowers Citrus Packing, which grows and ships navel oranges and other citrus, is joining Sunkist Growers Inc.

Terra Bella, Calif.-based Growers Citrus Packing is projected to pack 1.6 million cartons annually as part of the Sunkist packinghouse network. It plans to begin shipping fruit under the Sunkist label starting with the 2013-14 season.

Growers’ Citrus is the latest packer to join Sunkist in recent years, a list that includes Bravante Produce and Cal Citrus Packing Co.

“We are pleased with the momentum we have had over the past few years,” Kevin Fiori, Sunkist vice president of sales and marketing, said in a news release.

“We are pleased to be joining Sunkist, where we will benefit from their broad worldwide customer reach and marketing expertise,” David Evans, chief executive officer of Growers Citrus Packing, said in the release.

“Quality is central to the Sunkist brand, and delivering premium fruit to our customers requires working with first-class growers and shippers,” Sunkist president and chief executive officer Russ Hanlin said in the release. “Growers Citrus shares our commitment to excellence.”
