Harris Moran Seed Co. had its annual Melon Field Day recently in Yuma, Ariz.
Members of the U.S. and Mexican melon industries attended the event, which covered new products, market dynamics, industry challenges and consumer trends, according to a news release from Modesto, Calif.-based Harris Moran.
The highlight of the event was Harris Moran’s line of Origami melons. The company had several new Origami varieties to share with customers.
“This will allow producers to cultivate this type of melon throughout the entire growing season, allowing consumers to have the best eating quality from May to October,” Yoav Mendel, melon product manager, said in the release.
Harris Moran also showcased the Melosso, a honeydew grown in summer in California’s San Joaquin Valley and in fall in Arizona.
