Specialty produce supplier Harvest Sensations has begun production at a new 47,000-square-foot facility near the Produce Terminal Market in downtown Los Angeles.
The site is the Washington Food Center.
“We needed the new facility for our continued growth of the business,” Chris Coffman, president, said in a news release. “We had outgrown our old building. Now, we have additional cold storage capacity and are expanding our processing services.”
The structure features a refrigerated dock with warehouse and processing areas that have multiple temperature and humidity zones to maintain produce quality and shelf life.
Processing employees enter the processing area through a sterilization corridor.
Sustainability features include low-energy lighting, water-saving fixtures and waste containment and recycling systems, according to the release.
