Hass board launches Spanish-language brand, website

Saborea Uno HoyThe Hass Avocado Board has launched a Spanish-language brand and website.

“Saborea Uno Hoy” aims to encourage Hispanic consumers to include hass avocados in meals, according to a news release from the Irvine, Calif.-based board.

The new website, www.SaboreaUnoHoy.com, features nutritional and research information, tips and recipes.

In addition, the board has named nutritionist Malena Perdomo as a spokeswoman for Saborea Uno Hoy.

“I’m delighted to be partnering with HAB in their effort to provide information to the Hispanic community in our own language,” Perdomo said in the release. “The recipes I developed truly celebrate the richness of, and the culture behind, the avocado. For many Latinos — myself included — this rich ingredient reminds us of home, so it seemed only natural to create recipes that reflect our traditional foods.”

“One fifth of a medium avocado has 50 calories and contains nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients, making it a good choice to help meet nutrient needs,” she said. “And avocados are not just to be enjoyed by adults. The avocado’s smooth, creamy consistency makes it one of the first fresh foods a baby can enjoy.”
