Michigan distributor Heeren Bros. plans a ribbon cutting at its new distribution facility and corporate headquarters Dec. 11.

Heeren Bros. invested $22 million in the facility, which is located in Alpine Township, Mich., according to a company news release.

The facility features 15 controlled atmosphere rooms, new color- and defect-sorting packing and grading lines, energy-saving refrigeration equipment, a large employee lounge and break room and an employee workout facility.

Heeren Bros. manages more than 1,500 acres of orchards, represents more than 75 Michigan growers and packs and sells more than 20% of all fresh apples grown in Michigan.
