The grower-shipper also donates fresh produce and use of its refrigerated distribution center every year during the Christmas season.
The Salvation Army plans to distribute holiday packages including blankets, $100 worth of groceries and toys for about 2,500 children in the Salinas area on Dec. 15.
“We heard that last year there was a shortage of turkeys for the food baskets, so we wanted to contribute what we could this year to make sure that didn’t happen again,” Colin Horwitz said in a news release. Horwitz coordinated Tanimura & Antle’s employee donation effort.
“The Salvation Army distribution center at Tanimura & Antle is without a doubt the best space possible in Salinas and for three weeks in December it is a beacon of hope to literally thousands of Salinas Valley families,” Maj. Kris Potter said in the release.
