As a supporter of the United Fresh Foundation’s “Let’s Move Salad Bars to California Schools” campaign, Hollandia Produce, Carpinteria, Calif., has donated two salad bars to the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
The salad bar campaign supports Team California for Healthy Kids, a program started by Tom Torlakson, California state superintendent of public instruction.
“We are very excited about Hollandia Produce’s generous donation,” said Sandy Curwood, Conejo Valley Unified School District’s director of child nutrition services. “These salad bars support our efforts to source local, seasonal produce to serve to our students as part of our meal program, and support the valuable nutrition, agriculture and environmental lessons we’re focused on with our students, staff and community.”
Hollandia Produce presented the salad bars to the school district during a ceremony on May 13 in the cafeteria of Thousand Oaks High School, Thousand Oaks, Calif. This is Hollandia Produce’s fifth salad bar donation since joining the campaign.
