The 27th annual gift from the Houston Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association is in addition to regular donations of about 100,000 pounds a week from the Houston produce community, according to a news release. The donation was formally presented at an event held Dec. 13 in Houston.
Also at the event, Houston-based retailers Sellers Bros. and Food Town presented donations of $10,000 and $36,000, respectively, to the food bank.
