A new salesman, Kevin Batt, is set to join the staff at Houweling’s Tomatoes, effective Nov. 25.
Casey Houweling, owner of the Delta, British Columbia-based greenhouse company, said in a news release that Batt’s 13-plus years of experience in the industry was an important factor in hiring him.
Batt has worked for BC Hot House Foods Inc. and The Oppenheimer Group, both in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he became familiar with the Houweling’s brand, according to the release.
“It was important to me that we bring someone with extensive greenhouse experience, who knows our business, our customers,” Houweling said in the release.
With Batt on staff in Houweling’s Delta office, the company’s sales director Craig Laker said he will be able to devote more time to Houweling’s California sales and procurement operation.
“It will be an easy transition for our customers from me to Kevin,” Laker said in the news release.
Houweling’s has greenhouse farms in Camarillo, Calif., and Delta, British Columbia, that total about 175 acres.
