The U.S. Potato Board is attempting to squash the misconception that potatoes are fattening by partnering with blogger Hungry Girl. The popular Hungry Girl brand, created by Lisa Lillien, sent out an e-mail blast to 1.2 million subscribers applauding the nutritional values of potatoes.
The e-mail blast included a Hungry Girl original recipe for Mashie Topped Meatloaf Cupcakes, a “Top Ate” list of reasons to love potatoes, and a link to enter the Guilt-Free Potato Goodness Recipe contest on the potato board’s Facebook page.
The Hungry Girl multimedia brand incorporates a popular website, free daily e-mail service, a bestselling book series and a television series. The board is making use of Lillien’s multi-faceted brand by dedicating Web pages advertising the partnership and original potato recipes.
