Reusable plastic container provider IFCO Systems has promoted Fred Heptinstall to senior vice president, global business development. The former president of North American business is succeeded by Dan Walsh.

Heptinstall vastly grew the RPC sector during his IFCO career, converting a number of North American produce retailers to the use of RPCs, according to a news release. He was executive vice president of Chiquita Fresh North America before he joined IFCO in 2004.

In his new position, Heptinstall is responsible for the expansion of IFCO into new global markets, new product applications, acquisition opportunities, and strategic business development, according to the release.

Walsh comes to IFCO with 15 years in the Brambles Limited group of companies. He has experience in various positions in general management, strategy, sales and customer service throughout CHEP’s global product divisions and regions. His CHEP experience also includes work in the RPC business in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Walsh most recently was vice president, sales and customer collaboration for CHEP USA where he oversaw all commercial activity in the U.S.

“I am extremely pleased to announce these two new appointments. IFCO will be sure to continue its success under the proven leadership provided by Dan and Fred,” said Wolfgang Orgeldinger, chief executive officer, in a news release.
