Displays entered in the contest, which began Dec. 15, are expected to peak in the two weeks prior to the Super Bowl Feb. 3, according to a news release from the Parma, Idaho-based committee.
Because this year’s contest focuses on grilling, with Weber grills and accessories among the prizes, the committee is pushing Playoffs and Super Bowl themes, said Sherise Jones, marketing director.
“The homegating and tailgating theme was really a natural choice for the display contest,” Jones said in the release.
Jones said retailers can boost sales by building displays using the committee’s USA Onions’ Onion Grillin’ point-of-sale materials and logo-embossed black Weber Kettle grills.
The contest runs through Feb. 3. Photos of entries must be submitted by Feb. 28, and winners will be announced March 31.
