Travis BlackerBlackerSUN VALLEY, Idaho — Travis Blacker, president of the Idaho Grower Shippers Association, has resigned. His last day of work will be Sept. 30.

Blacker, who joined the group in September 2008, has plans to stay in the industry but declined to elaborate. The news of his departure came Aug. 29, the first day of the group’s 84th annual convention, which lasts through Aug. 31.

“We’re actively looking right now and taking applications through the next three or four weeks, and we have established a search committee," Blacker said Aug. 29.

Blacker, 40, said he’ll release more details about his plans Aug. 30.

He succeeded Dave Smith as president at the association.

Blacker’s experience in the industry started in the frozen potato segment, at a company now known as Dickinson Frozen Foods, Fruitland, Ohio. He was supply chain manager at Dickinson before joining the Idaho Grower Shippers Association.
