LAS VEGAS — Stephanie Teteak of Larry’s Piggly Wiggly, Kaukauna, Wis., didn’t waste her second chance at the 26th National Grocer’s Association Best Bagger Championship.
Teteak took home the $10,000 grand prize and a golden checkout lane award from Pan-Oston Co., Bowling Green, Ky.
Baggers from 24 states participated in the championship. Contestants are judged on speed, technique, weight distribution, style, attitude and appearance.
The second place winner, Blake Westling of Byerly’s Grocery Store in Eagan, Minn., took home a $5,000 cash prize. Rob Mow of Martin’s Super Markets, South Bend, Ind., placed third; Alexis Jeup of Publix in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., placed fourth; and Bryan Nowell of Publix in Tuscaloosa, Ala., placed fifth. Each took home a $1,000 prize.
