Keystone Fruit Marketing Inc. is rolling out a marketing campaign for the Walla Walla sweet onion season.
Keystone’s “America’s Original” campaign highlights the fact that Walla Wallas have been grown in Washington since the 19th century, according to a news release from Greencastle, Pa.-based Keystone.
In July and August, the campaign will feature 10-second television commercials and news and traffic reports in Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle on ABC, CBS and NBC stations, as well as on independent television stations including KTLA in Los Angeles.
Walla Walla Certified Sweet and Certified Extra Sweet Onions are marketed by a partnership between Keystone and Los Angeles-based Progressive Produce.
The commercials will cover the long history of sweet onions in the Walla Walla Valley and the foods they enhance.
Keystone also will be promoting Walla Wallas on “The Chew” and other food-themed TV shows. The Keystone Kitchen’s Dave Munson will prepare dishes on the shows.
