King Fresh LLC has acquired the license to market cherry labels from Stockton, Calif.-based Farmington Fresh Sales LLC, adding Farmington Fresh, Hy-Flyer and Mary Ellen labels to the portfolio of King Fresh fruits.
King Fresh, Dinuba, Calif., also markets grapes, tree fruit, pomegranates, berries and citrus year-round, according to a news release.
Rene Millburn, public relations director for King Fresh, said the acquisition will allow the central California grower-shipper to offer early season California cherries this year.
Keith Wilson, president of King Fresh, said the company plans to install cherry equipment at the firm’s 50,000-square-foot packinghouse and cold storage location near Kingsburg. Growers and customers will see a value in transportation cost savings by loading cherries at the same location with stone fruit, blueberries and grapes offered by King Fresh, according to the release.
