L&M hires marketing muscle for apples, pears, cherries

WilliamsL&M, Raleigh, N.C., hired Steve Williams and Doug Stoiber to work together in marketing the company’s fresh produce.

Before joining L&M as manager of business development, Williams worked nearly 35 years with Sweet Bay/Kash n’ Karry Supermarkets in various positions, including director of fresh merchandising from 2010 to 2013. Williams was also awarded the 2008 Produce Retailer of the Year from The Packer’s sister publication, Produce Retailer.

“Steve is an important part of an overall strategic move to enhance L&M’s marketing efforts for our apple, pear and cherry business unit,” said president and chief executive officer, John Oxford, in a news release.

Stoiber, who is now with L&M’s marketing staff in Washington, previously worked at L&M’s transportation company, LMTS, managing produce transportation teams. He also worked in marketing and merchandising for companies such as US Foodservice and Sysco in the past. Stoiber moved to the marketing staff for his knowledge of the foodservice and logistics industries, according to the release.
