Lady Moon Farms is partnering with Whole Foods Market’s Whole Kids Foundation to put salad bars and gardens in schools with the goal of improving child nutrition.

It is the first produce company to join the Growing Healthy Kids program. Each year, Lady Moon Farms plans to donate $40,000 to the foundation, according to a news release.

“I feel that as one of our country’s premiere growers of organic produce, it is my responsibilty to give back to the children of America and play a role in their education around living a healthy lifestyle,” Lady Moon Farms founder Tom Beddard said in the release. “After all, they are our future.”

The donation will be funded by in-store promotions during the Whole Kid Foundation’s Growing Healthy Kids campaign in Whole Foods stores in the mid-Atlantic region in early September. For each pint of Lady Moon Farms grape tomatoes sold in participating stores, the company plans to donate 15 cents to the foundation up to $40,000.

The company plans to expand the promotion into more stores in early 2015, when the grape tomato season in Florida is at its peak.
