Lipman is expanding its national footprint by acquiring The Produce Exchange, a West Coast distributor.
The acquisition expands Lipman’s geographic coverage and increases volumes of vegetables and tomatoes, including open field and greenhouse production, according to a news release.
“We are confident that their close-to-the-customer services, in addition to their West Coast supply in tomatoes and vegetables, will enhance Lipman’s ability to create more success with our customers,” Kent Shoemaker, Lipman’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “Strategically, our values are in alignment, our facilities and farms complement one another, and our seasoned people together bring experience that will give our customers what they need to be successful.”
Marty Mazzanti founded the company in 1979
The Produce Exchange operates from Phoenix, San Diego, and Kent, Wash.
Lipman is one of North America’s largest grower of field-grown tomatoes, distributing tomatoes and other vegetables from facilities in Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, California and Mexico.
