Despite an early-season freeze, Lindsay, Calif.-based LoBue Citrus completed another successful Heritage Reserve navel orange season.
The late-season navel, grown on heritage trees that date back more than 50 years, are known for their natural color and consistently high flavor, according to a news release.
The fruit also is taste-tested daily, graded tightly and packed to order.
The Heritage Reserve program is offered to select retailers nationally from February through May each year.
LoBue Citrus supports the program with high-graphic packaging, point-of-sale materials, merchandising bins, blogger partnerships and social media.
Consumers also can scan quick response codes on packages to link to a video of LoBue family members talking about the legacy groves that produce the oranges.
