Loblaw shakes up management

Loblaw Cos. Ltd. Galen Weston, executive chairman Loblaw Companies Ltd. was elected president of the Brampton, Ontario-based company. Galen Weston, executive chairman of Brampton, Ontario-based Loblaw Companies Ltd. is the new company president.

The company announced Weston’s new role along with several other executive leadership changes, according to a news release.

Vicente Trius, president since August 2011, left the company for family reasons, the company said, and Domenic Pilla, president of Shoppers Drug Mart plans to leave the company by the end of 2014.

Other executive changes include:

  • Richard Dufresne, previously chief financial officer at George Weston Ltd. retains that role and becomes chief financial officer of Loblaw;
  • Sarah Davis, previously chief financial officer, becomes chief administrative officer responsible for supply chain, information technology, goods not for resale, Loblaw properties and strategy;
  • Grant Froese, previously chief administrative officer, becomes chief operating officer;
  • Mike Motz, currently executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, becomes president of Shoppers Drug Mart following Pilla’s departure.
