Long-time Florida produce saleswoman dies

Patricia M. “Pat” Harrison, who worked in Florida’s produce industry for more than three decades, died Dec. 17 after battling cancer. She was 72.

Harrison worked in sales since 1999 for Sugarland Produce Inc., a South Bay, Fla., produce broker, said Leon Kelsoe, the company’s president and owner. Prior to joining Sugarland, she was in sales with American Growers in Belle Glade, Fla.

“She was just like family,” Kelsoe said. “We’re a small company, and we’re all like family.”

Harrison was a member of the Methodist Church in Canal Point and an avid Miami Dolphins football fan, according to the Palm Beach Post.

She is survived by a son, David, a daughter, Barbara, a brother, two sisters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, according to the Palm Beach Post.

A memorial service was Jan. 7 at the Methodist Church in Belle Glade and a graveside burial will be in early summer at Dexter Cemetery.
