Fresno, Calif.-based Lotpath Inc. has created an iPad app for use in fresh produce inspections.

Lotpath Inspector can be downloaded at the iTunes app store. It works in combination with Lotpath Quality, a quality control web app for fresh produce.

Part of the iPad app’s function is to take photos on packing lines.

“With its large screen and integrated camera, the iPad is the perfect digital data capture device for fresh produce inspections,” Mike Dodson, Lotpath chief executive officer, said in a news release.

Early versions of the app were trialed in California at HMC Farms, Kingsburg; Wes Pak Sales Inc., Dinuba; Mountain View Fruit Sales Inc., Reedley; and Family Tree Farms Inc., Reedley.

“Lotpath Quality and Lotpath Inspector give us real-time visibility of product quality data and photos as it flows through our packing and shipping operations,” Michael Toms, information technology director at HMC Farms, said in the release.

The two apps can also integrate quality data with accounting and inventory information for users of Famous Software, but their use does not require it.

Lotpath’s other products include traceability and labor tracking software.
