Lucky Lee, co-founder and chief operating officer of Lucky’s Real Tomatoes, was recently reappointed to the board of directors of the New York City Industrial Development Agency to serve a three-year term. According to the its website, the agency encourages economic development to retain existing jobs and to create new jobs throughout the city’s five boroughs.
As a produce industry veteran, Lee will contribute to the agency’s FRESH program — Food Retail Expansion to Support Health — among others during her term at the agency.
FRESH promotes the establishment and retention of neighborhood grocery stores in undeserved communities by providing zoning and financial incentives to eligible grocery store operators and developers. The program is part of New York City Mayor Bloomberg’s Five-Borough Economic Opportunity Plan,
