Maglio & Co., a fresh produce repacker and distributor, will almost double its transportation capacity in late June through an agreement with Blackhawk Transport, Beloit, Wisc.

The agreement will include a dozen new trucks and 13 trailers. Logistics staff at Blackhawk will manage the trucks for Maglio.

Maglio & Co., Glendale, Wisc., will have 16 tractors total available, a net increase of seven because it sold off some old trucks recently, said Sam Maglio, president.

The president of Maglio & Co. said Blackhawk employees are “like-minded” when it comes to Maglio’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the cold chain. He said the trucks have equipment that allows for tracking and routing updates to help ensure on-time deliveries.

The trailers boast new refrigeration units and load temperature monitoring systems to help make sure Maglio meets requirements of Global Food Safety Initiative standards.
