Distributor Maglio & Co. has donated $5,000 for salad bars in two Wisconsin schools.

Glendale, Wis.-based Maglio & Co.’s gift, made through the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign, will fund equipment for salad bars at the Academy of Excellence in Milwaukee and Black Hawk Elementary School in Sauk City, according to a company news release.

Maglio & Co. selected the two schools because they are local and because the children of Maglio & Co. employees attend them.

“Not only does this program provide an opportunity for healthy change in schools, but it allows children to experience fresh foods that they may not have access to otherwise,” Sam Maglio, Jr., the company’s president, said in the release. “Donating to a school where some of our employees’ children attend and one in close proximity to our facilities allows us to further support our team, as well as the local community.”

Nationwide, Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools, part of First Lady Michele Obama’s Let’s Move initiative, has donated salad bars to more than 2,800 schools.
