The creative display competition resulted in a 273% mango volume increase among participating stores compared to the same time last year.
Produce department managers used a combination of contest kits with point-of-sale materials and their own props to build the displays. Exhibits had to remain up for at least seven days in July to be eligible.
Judges selected winners based on creativity, visual appeal and effectiveness in educating shoppers about mangoes. Entries from 25 produce departments nationwide earned prizes from $200 to $1,000.
