Mango board encourages creative displays

Prizes are up for grabs in this year’s National Mango Board Mango Mania display contest.

In July, the National Mango Board plans to award retailers $10,000 for creative displays that help merchandise the fruit.

National Mango Board In its third year, the contest plans to encourage participation from retailers that operate up to 50 stores.

The Orlando, Fla.-based board is encouraging its member shippers to convince their smaller retail customers to participate, according to a news release.

The contest is designed for individual stores or smaller chains to boost their mango sales and showcase mango merchandising creativity while educating shoppers about mangos, according to the release.

The board plans to award cash prizes to 27 winning produce department managers.

To qualify for the prizes and to make it easier for retailers to participate, the board has developed a point-of-sale kit order form and an entry form available at www.mango.org/contest.

“We’ve seen great participation from retailers in the past, and we wanted to streamline the process to encourage even more retailers to get involved,” Megan McKenna, the board’s marketing director, said in the release. “Participating in the contest can help increase their sales and educate consumers about this delicious tropical fruit.”

All entries must be received at the board’s office by Aug. 19.
