The National Mango Board wants to encourage more retail produce managers to sign up for its Mango Mover retail newsletter.
In a July 10 letter to retailers, the Orlando, Fla.-based organization acknowledges how busy managers are and how they may not feel they want to receive another newsletter.
The new monthly newsletter is designed for retailers and provides information and insights on how to better merchandise the fruit, according to a news release.
The newsletter alerts retailers to the Mango Mania display contest which awards cash prizes for creative displays and the publication also features promotional ideas for major holidays.
“I could have moved more mangoes during holidays such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July; what was I thinking!” the organization stated in a news release. “Not to mention all the tips about handling and merchandising mangoes. Did you know the NMB offers a mango handling and ripening protocol to help improve mango quality through better handling at warehouse and the store? This is a great tool that will help you improve mango handling practices that will lead to better quality mangoes.”
- The newsletter also provides information on:Consumer insights. Research results about mango consumers that help when creating displays and sharing mango information;
- Mango in the Market. Highlights mango varieties currently in the market so retailers can plan better promotions;
- Plan ahead mango promotions. Helps inspire mango promotions for the next 60 days by highlighting opportunities for different occasions; and
- Mango University. A tool to train store-level produce personnel and teach them everything they need to know to ramp up mango sales.
