Mann Packing named PMA Impact Award finalist

Courtesy Mann Packing Co.Mann Packing’s “Snacks on the Go!” line of fresh-cut vegetables and fruits is a finalist in the Produce Marketing Association’s Impact Award for packaging competition.

The Salinas, Calif.-based grower-shipper will feature “Snacks on the Go!” in booth 435 at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit 2011 Oct. 14-17 in Atlanta, according to a news release.

The snack products come in trays, multipacks and tear-away triplets. The addition earlier this year of the multipacks and triplets increased the line from five to 12 products. Mann Packing showed the expanded offering in May at the United Fresh Produce Association convention in new Orleans.

The original tray size, 8 ounces, was reduced to 6 ounces to reach a $1.99 price point.

The grower-shipper will also show its sweet potato spears and cubes, butternut squash cubes and party platters, among other products.

On Oct. 15 at Fresh Summit, chef Adrienne Saldivar-Meier will serve an egg white scramble with Mann’s butternut squash and Canadian bacon; Mann’s Rainbow Waldorf salad; and Broccolini and pork loin baguettes.

On Oct. 16, featured dishes will be egg white scramble with Mann’s sweet potatoes; Mann’s confetti meatballs made with its broccoli coleslaw; and Broccolini and beef Samurai sticks with teriyaki glaze drizzle.
