Mann Packing Co. is planning a lettuce varietal tasting at the Produce Marketing Association Foodservice Conference and Expo in Monterey, Calif.
The PMA conference is July 26-28.
Salinas, Calif.-based Mann Packing will offer foodservice operators samples of its lettuce varieties, including two new whole head lettuces, according to a news release. It’s part of an effort to highlight findings of a study on consumer preferences the company commissioned with Technomic Inc.
Lettuce varieties grown and shipped by Mann include Better Burger Leaf, Arcadian Harvest Classic, Emerald and Ruby blends. The company has yet to release the names of the new head lettuces.
“What we learned from consumers about lettuce is revolutionary and we look forward to gathering information from the conference attendees as well,” Gina Nucci, director of healthy culinary innovation, said in the release.
In addition to the lettuce tasting, Mann plans to serve an herbaceous steak salad made with its Arcadian Harvest Ruby blend at its booth, 139. The recipe is entered in PMA’s Sensory Experience recipe contest.
