Jones will oversee many of Market Fresh’s products and will be responsible for negotiating a competitive cost of goods and developing and maintaining relationships with growers, shippers, and vendors, according to a company news release.
Jones entered the produce industry in 1995. He started his career as a produce stocker at Wal-Mart in Springfield, Mo. Jones became assistant produce manager and then produce manager of the store.
In 2002, Jones joined the staff at Associated Wholesalers Grocers, Springfield, Mo. Jones held a variety of positions including produce quality insurance inspector, banana ripener and produce buyer, and produce specialist.
“Chris’ background and vast knowledge of the industry will help in our day-to-day operations as well as the future growth and development of our company,” said Market Fresh chief executive officer and owner Steve Phipps.
