Kingsville, Ontario-based Mastronardi’s Eco Flavor Bowls are made from recycled materials and are 100% recyclable, said Daniela Ferro, Mastronardi’s communications coordinator.
The product, which comes in 1 1/2- and 2-pound versions, is a finalist for this year’s United Fresh New Product Award in the packaging category. Mastronardi is currently packing its Sunset Angel Sweet, Splendido, Zima and Wild Wonders products in the bowls.
Wild Wonders is a new brand of cocktail tomatoes of all shapes, sizes, colors and flavors, Ferro said.
Eco Flavor Bowls will be introduced at retail "throughout the next few weeks," Ferro said April 28.
“Right now, consumers are looking for sustainable packaging that meets the needs of families,” Giuseppe Rubino, Mastronardi’s director of packaging, said in a news release. “The Eco Flavor Bowl is the perfect size and format for snacking, serving and entertaining, all while reducing your carbon footprint.”
The packaging was designed, Rubino said, to enable consumers to see as much of the product as possible.
Eco Flavor Bowls are top-sealed with high-graphic films and use up to 20% fewer materials than some clamshells.
