Los Angeles-based World Variety Produce, which markets under the Melissa’s brand, has introduced baby brussels sprouts and sweet red Kapia peppers.
The baby brussels sprouts, packed in a 10-ounce clamshell, are not a mini variety but a brussels sprout that’s picked early. That enables raw consumption, for example in salads, according to a news release. Availability is year-round.
The sweet red Kapia is a tapered, 4- to 5-inch pepper native to Eastern Europe and used as an ingredient in Hungarian paprika. Melissa’s Produce, a shipper of specialty fruits and vegetables, markets it as sweeter tasting than a standard red bell pepper.
A 10-ounce perforated retail package of the peppers is available year-round except for November.
