The contest ran from April 2 through May 6, according to a news release.
Thirty-five winners received $200 grocery gift cards and one grand prize winner received a trip to Napa Valley.
The contest provided more than 17,000 new Facebook fans for the organization and more than 40,500 daily visits to the website, according to the release.
As part of the promotion, the website offered avocado recipes for breakfast foods, such as avocado spread for toast or smoothies.
In-store signs and social media marketing helped drive the success of the promotion, according to the release.
“The Wake up a Winner promotion proved to be incredibly effective at generating awareness and excitement about avocados for breakfast, and we hope to build on those efforts as we move forward to support other new usage ideas,” Eduardo Serena, marketing director for the Avocado Producers and Exporting Packers Association of Michoacán, said in the release.
