A ruling by Mexico’s federal agriculture agency should make it easier for mango growers in certain areas to export to the U.S.

On June 14, Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fishery and Food (SAGARPA) announced that some areas in the state of Michoacan have a “low prevalence” of the fruit fly Anastrepha, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service.

The designation covers about 1,418 acres of mango production, and should make it easier for growers to gain clearance to ship fruit to the U.S., according to the USDA.

The Mexican ruling takes effect July 15.
