A school remodeling project sponsored by Mission Produce Inc. has been completed near the company’s Michoacan, Mexico, facility.
The Oxnard, Calif.-based avocado packer-shipper funded construction of a multipurpose classroom at Fernando Montes De Oca School in Uruapan, Michoacan. Mission Produce officials attended a Dec. 8 ribbon cutting, according to a news release.
The company’s biggest packing plant is in Uruapan. Many employees’ children attend the elementary school.
Mission Produce also supports a daily breakfast program and ongoing gardening and ground maintenance for the campus. The company is also working to provide classroom supplies and physical education equipment.
“Education is critical to the success of today’s youth and we are proud to help provide an avenue for them to learn and develop into successful adults,” Tony Ecuyer, national inventory manager, said in the release. Ecuyer was among those attending the opening ceremony.
