Mocon Inc. has developed a new instrument to test oxygen transmission rates for all types of barrier materials.
The Minneapolis company said in a news release that the instrument is ideal for food, pharmaceutical, medical device and material producers who need to test packaging for oxygen permeation.
The OX-TRAN Model 2/22 H offers test times that are reduced significantly depending on barrier quality. In addition, the model’s repeatability specification has been improved by more than two and half times over the industry standard OX-TRAN Model 2/21 H, according to the release.
“It is very difficult to accurately measure the trace amounts of oxygen transmitting through today’s packaging materials,” Doug Lindemann, vice president of the company, said in the release.
Automation features of the new model include relative humidity, temperature, pressure, flow and testing which are simply set via the integrated and intuitive touch screen, according to the release. Remote viewing and control from anywhere in the world is possible with the connectivity options, according to the release.
The new OX-TRAN Model 2/22 H will be available for demonstration at Interpack, May 8-14, Dusseldorf, Germany, Hall 5 Stand J03, according to the release. See www.mocon.com for more information.
