Multivac Inc. recently opened a new business unit out of its North American headquarters to exclusively deliver packaging films to customers.
The company hired Frank Barel as national sales manager to lead the unit, which is based at Multivac’s Kansas City, Mo., office.
Barel is described as a packaging industry veteran by Multivac president Jan Erik Kuhlmann in a news release. Barel previously worked for Printpack Inc. as a global market development manager.
Initially the new unit will handle DuPont Teijin’s Mylar films for cooking and baking applications.
However, Jerry Hirsh, Multivac’s marketing officer, said a key function of the new business unit will be to work with existing and new customers to determine new packaging needs.
“Frank will be working with customers such as fresh produce companies to find out what their new needs are and how Multivac can provide new films to meet those needs,” Hirsh said. “The new unit will be handling value-added films of all kinds to meet the packaging needs of our customers.”
Multivac’s president echoed that sentiment in his comments in the news release about the opening of the business unit in Kansas City. Kuhlmann said the unit is dedicated to delivering “game-changing products” as Multivac partners with suppliers such as DuPont.
Multivac’s product lines already include a variety of retail and wholesale packaging for fresh produce, including rigid clamshells and plastic films and wraps. The packaging can be customized with special closures, portion control features and multipack designs.
