Nash Produce attains GlobalGAP, hires salesman

Sparks Nash Produce of Nashville, N.C., has obtained its GlobalGAP certification and added a salesman.

The sweet potato packer and processor was certified under GlobalGap version 4.0, the current standard, earlier this month according to a news release.

The new salesman is Don Sparks, a 30-year veteran of agriculture. Prior to joining Nash Produce, he was operations manager at Bissett Produce Co., Spring Hope, N.C. He spent 16 years with Bissett Produce Co., Sparks said, selling, packing and shipping sweet potatoes.

He also was a grower for 20 years. His other experience includes exporting sweet potatoes to the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.

It’s a newly created sales position at Nash Produce, Sparks said.
