NassifTom Nassif, president and chief executive officer of Western Growers Association, Irvine, Calif., has been reappointed to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee by Sec. Tom Vilsack of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Ron Kirk, U.S. Trade Representative.

Nassif’s reappointment gives Western Growers a voice on the committee until mid-2015, according to a news release.

The 40 member committee, established by the Trade Act of 1974, provides private agriculture sector input on trade policy administration in the U.S. according to the USDA.

The committee also provides to the USDA and the USTR advice on the operation of existing trade agreements and on negotiating objectives and bargaining positions before the U.S. enters into global trade agreements.

Western Growers represents grower-shippers in California and Arizona.
