The National Mango Board announced winners for its Mango Mania Display contest, a promotional campaign aimed at increasing consumer awareness and boosting sales. The contest encouraged large mango displays which include educational messages, and entries were judged based on creativity, visual appeal and effectiveness in educating shoppers, according to a news release.

 

The top winners in each category include:

(Up to 50 Stores, 7 or more registers)

1st: Garrett Fowden, Payson Market, Payson, Utah

2nd: Doug Dallo, Foodland, National City, Calif.; and

3rd: Raul Rivera, Save A Lot Mercado, San Diego.

 

(Up to 50 Stores, 1 to 6 registers)

1st: Jodie Murdock, Fresh Market, Richfield, Utah;

2nd: Michelle Heneby, Marvin’s Food Saver, Dewey, Okla.; and

3rd: Robert Earls, CV’s Family Foods, Danville, Ark.

 

(More than 50 Stores, 7 or more registers)

1st: John Jaworski, Price Rite, Chicopee, Mass.;

2nd: Jeff Picchioni, Price Rite, Seekonk, Mass.; and

3rd: Vincent Venditti, Price Rite, Johnston, R.I.

 

The Orlando-based board reported that store participation nearly doubled 2013’s levels, and the contest resulted in an increase of 138% mango volume at participating stores compared to the same time last year.
