The National Mango Board honored four retailers for providing support and promotion for mangoes.
The winners were announced at the board’s reception Oct. 27 during Produce Marketing Association's Fresh Summit 2012, in Anaheim, Calif.
The Mango Retailer of the Year was Dominic Pelosi, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. Inc. and the Mango Model Retailers were John Savidan and Keith Tsuchiyama, Bristol Farms; Lee Arthur, The Fresh Market; and Jim Wood, Schnucks, according to a news release.
“Many of our relationships with retailers have moved beyond just funded promotions,” Megan McKenna, National Mango Board director of marketing, said in the release. “These retailers are our partners and they help support the mango industry year round.”
The Board selected the retailers based on criteria that includes how they follow through on commitments to the board’s programs and educate consumers about mangoes through display, point-of-sale materials, ads and other tools, according to the release.
