The National Watermelon Promotion Board, the nonprofit marketing and communications arm of the watermelon industry, has named winners for its annual Watermelon Carving Contest. With nearly 100 entries, judges saw a range of carvings, from intricate designs to comical interpretations. According to a news release, the contest is held held each July during National Watermelon Month. The winners:

All winners were awarded a cash prize, and the board encourages consumers to continue the carving spirit into the fall by swapping out a traditional pumpkin jack-o-lantern for a watermelon this Halloween.
