DatePac LLC, producer and marketer of Natural Delights medjool dates, will introduce two new cluster snack items at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit. The Yuma, Ariz.-based company created almond date clusters and coconut date clusters that will be displayed at the New Product Showcase and the Natural Delights booth, No. 5031.
“The date clusters idea was a direct result of market research,” said Dave Anderson, the group’s director of marketing, in a news release. “In other words, our customers, whether vitality seekers or active, on-the-go, young moms, wanted a date roll that would seamlessly fit into their busy lives. And we delivered.”
After the cluster snack packs take hold in the market, DatePac plans to debut pistachio, chili-lime and organic date clusters. According to a DatePac news release, the Natural Delights date roll snack line has contributed to a 15% growth of the date category in the past year. The company expects the cluster snacks will continue the growth trend.
“These candy-like treats are so tasty that when consumers taste them, they are surprised that they’re also nutritious. And, for consumers who’ve never tried Medjool dates, this is the perfect introduction to inspire future purchases and curiosity about a fruit that’s been around for ages yet is new to them,” said Edward O’Malley, president and chief executive officer of Datepac, in the release.
