GaloneNeil Galone, vice president of marketing for Booth Ranches LLC, is retiring from the company.

Galone will step down at the end of February from Orange Cove, Calif.-based Booth, he said.

For the past 15 months, Galone has worked part-time for Booth from his home in Florida. For the five years before that, he worked full-time as the company’s vice president of sales and marketing.

Because severe freezes are limiting Booth’s citrus volumes this year, Galone said it was a good time to retire.

Galone’s position will not likely be filled. When he switched to part-time in 2012, Booth’s Tracy Jones and Izak DuToit both were promoted to vice president of sales positions.

Galone, a 37-year produce industry veteran, said he has already received calls from companies interested in hiring him.

“I’ll probably be back, at least in a limited capacity,” he said. “I’ll be like Brett Favre, or better yet, Peyton Manning.”

Galone also has worked for Diamond Fruit Growers, Snokist Growers, A. Duda and Sons and Sunkist Growers.

Galone said he’s enjoyed representing Booth the past six years and working with the company’s president, Loren Booth.

“Loren Booth is absolutely committed to providing the best product she can, and she does exactly what she says she’s going to do,” Galone said. “If that means spending more money, that’s what she does. It’s been a nice way to finish a career.”
