The New England Produce Council partnered with the Greater Boston Foodbank and the New England Produce Center on Nov. 9 to bring a truckload of fresh produce to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey for those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The produce was donated by various companies and Don Shapiro Produce received and staged all the product that was donated, according to a news release.

The companies who helped donate were Dole Fresh Vegetables, Gold Bell Inc., Bonafede, D’Arrigo, State Garden, S. Strock & Co., Inc., 4M Fruit Distributor, Peter Condakes Co., Community Suffolk and Don Shapiro Produce.

The Council contributed the cost of the truck to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy and also made donations to the Red Cross and to local food banks in the area, according to the release.
