New Mexico GM, office for Ayco Farms

Daniel Ramirez Van HoordeRamirezAyco Farms has named Daniel Ramirez Van Hoorde general manager in Mexico. Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Ayco has a new office in Irapuato, Guanajuato, where Ramirez will be based.

Ramirez most recently served as chief operating officer for Indigo Growers SAPI de CV, where he rehabilitated greenhouses and updated packing areas, production systems and food safety programs. He also marketed grape tomatoes and bell peppers.

“The Mexican operation serves as bridge for a larger Ayco presence in the Western U.S. marketplace,” Ayco chief executive officer Avi Nir said in a news release. “This … keeps us on our strategically defined path to meet the evolving needs of our customer base.”

Ayco’s Mexico operation includes greenhouse and open-field production. Products include colored greenhouse bell peppers, English cucumbers, Persian cucumbers, pole cucumbers, broccoli crowns and asparagus.

“My main objectives are to partner with growers in the marketing process and for food safety programs,” Ramirez said in the release.
